This week's episode of Bones, season 7 episode 3, "The Prince in the Plastic," is going to feature Sweets in a capacity that he has not yet been seen in: armed and dangerous. Well, maybe not so much the dangerous part yet, but he will be holding a gun.
Season 7 episode 3 "The Prince in the Plastic" preview
In addition to the promo (here), there's a behind-the-scenes look at the episode out, and it's all about Sweets. This week he's going to be going through gun certification so that he can be armed as he's going to be taking a more active role in the investigation with Brennan pregnant. The video (below) shows Hodgins and Cam surprised that Sweets is getting certified to carry a gun, but Daisy's all for it: "Lancelot is the kindest, most decent man I've ever known. Why shouldn't he carry a piece?" Those two can be too cute together at times, but it is nice to hear her defending him and backing his decision even if others don't think he can do it.
John Francis Daley explains that his character has to first go through a vigorous training regimen from Booth. Is there anyone better to train Sweets? No, there isn't, and you have to love the Range Master vest Booth is wearing when Sweets finds him. Daley insists that Sweets was "totally confident" about shooting targets and people, and the clip shows him on the shooting range. But will he take the wrong shot and end up hurting himself? This should bring more to the show to excite fans as things continue to change in Bones season 7 with Brennan pregnant and now Sweets carrying a weapon.
Bones season 7 continues this week with episode 3, "The Prince in the Plastic," and there are three new sneak peeks out from the episode. What's coming up as the team tries to solve a murder involving a toy company?
Season 7 episode 3 "The Prince in the Plastic" sneak peeks
In addition to the behind-the-scenes look at Sweets preparing for his gun certification test (here), there are three new clips out to preview the new episode, and the first (below) talks about Sweets with a gun. Booth doesn't think Sweets should be armed, saying that as a psychiatrist, he has a couch—not a gun. However, Sweets isn't asking for his permission, and he's determined to get certified. He would rather talk about Booth and Brennan's living arrangement. Yes,
they're still arguing. Brennan wants at least an acre of land, while Booth wants a mancave. Booth doesn't want Sweets getting involved as they figure out where they're going to live. Brennan defends Sweets' decision to carry a gun—but Sweets doesn't like her reasoning. She explains that if he's armed, it could draw fire away from Booth and Sweets could get shot, decreasing the chances of Brennan ending up a single mother.
Sweets tells Booth that he'll make sure he doesn't get his mancave if he doesn't get his gun. You have to love Brennan's matter-of-fact reasoning, and obviously Booth gives in since he's going to end up being Sweets' trainer. Will Brennan be the one to convince Booth to let Sweets carry?
In the second Bones season 7 episode 3 sneak peek (below), Brennan and Angela talk about having toys as a child. Angela had a Prince Charmington doll, while Brennan did not because toys would've been a distraction. However, Angela explains that playing is just as important as science and Brennan's going to need to play with her daughter.
She tells her to play with the doll, and while it doesn't go so well (Brennan doesn't quite understand the concept of playing with a toy without pointing out what its missing parts as if she was looking at a body), Brennan does seem to be enjoying it. It looks like she may slowly get the idea of play, as the promo (here) does show her having fun.
The third and final clip (below) shows Booth and Brennan talking to the toy company's CEO (Morgan Fairchild). She tells them that all of Debby's ideas are huge sellers, including the bouncing bears. Booth mentions that Parker loves those (you have to love the Parker references and look forward to his return in a Spring episode). However, when Booth tries to explain the appeal of bouncing bears to Brennan, she doesn't quite get it.
Instead, she begins talking about fatal bear maulings, refusing to encourage their daughter to play with bears. Booth agrees that bears are out. It's nice to see them talking about their daughter like this, and these clips (and the first two episodes) just show that a baby and romance haven't changed the banter between Booth and Brennan that has always been a highlight of the show.

"[Sweets is] totally confident about it. Obviously, everyone else didn’t think he had it in him to shoot people, or even targets for that matter."
One person does have cofidence in Sweets, but the identity of that person has not yet been revealed. The second sneak peek released focuses on Brennan and Booth.
